Course Description

This ½ day workshop introduces attendees to processes and tools for comprehensively identifying project stakeholders and created a tailored communications plan to manage stakeholder expectations.  In doing so, attendees will use given templates for a Stakeholder Register, Stakeholder Analysis tool (a Power/Interest Grid), and a Communications Plan.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the importance of and process for completing a stakeholder inventory and analysis.

  • Describe stakeholder categories according to degree of interest and influence on a project.

  • Perform stakeholder identification and analysis for a case study project.

  • Recognize common communication barriers and how to overcome them.

  • Know attributes of the Sender-Receiver communications model.

  • Determine appropriate communications media choices for different project stakeholder needs.

  • Explain how team development stages affect project communications.

  • Define “emotional intelligence” competencies associated with being emotionally intelligent.

  • Apply communication and stakeholder management concepts to create a tailored Communications Plan.
