Course Description

The use of virtual collaboration tools is a necessity with today’s distributed teams.  Teams who are unable to be geographically co-located must leverage the virtual collaboration tools to engage with one another.  This seminar will offer strategies to overcome the limitations and leverage the advantages of virtual collaboration tools using general management skills and the functional features that virtual collaboration tools provide.  The use of virtual collaboration tools must be an extension of managing teams physically in person, not an obstacle.

Learning Objectives:

Presentation, discussion, small team and full group activities, case studies and role plays, individual skill practice applications, and individual planning.

By completing this module, participants will be able to:

  • Identify virtual collaboration limitations and advantages

  • Define team norms for using virtual collaboration tools

  • Engage teams using virtual collaboration tools to build rapport

  • Set team member expectations using virtual collaboration tools
