Course Description

This 2-day workshop introduces attendees to both individual and group factors that foster a productive and high-performing team environment.  As a pre-workshop activity, attendees will complete two individual assessments: the Big Five Personality Model Assessment* and the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI Assessment)* to allow the workshop to focus particularly on the critical Forming and Storming stages of team development. This workshop can be delivered virtually or in person.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify factors associated with high job satisfaction, motivation, and performance.

  • Self-assess personality characteristics within the Big Five Personality model (Assessment*.)

  • Understand the relationship between high performance and personality.

  • Identify properties associated with high-performing teams.

  • Know characteristics of team lifecycle development stages.

  • Identify and analyze stakeholders to better manage team communication.

  • Self-assess personal conflict management style via the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI Assessment*) and understand how and when different styles can be effectively applied.

  • Distinguish between “normal” and “crucial” conflict.

  • Understand how to effectively respond to and de-escalate conflict.

  • Analyze common group norms and decision-making approaches.

  • Identify next steps to encourage a positive and productive team environment.
